I try to be a frugal person and I am always looking to make "doable" changes in making healthier meals for my family. Earlier this week and today I am making up batches of beans. I made some "southwestern beans" and today some "chili beans". I am cooking them up w/ a little seasoning (this part needs some work I think) and then freezing them in bags that I can use in recipes later on.
There are a few benefits to doing this. It is more cost effective to make them and I know what the ingredients are. No preservatives. I read that by soaking the beans it can help cut down on some of the tummy issues (A.K.A. gas) that beans can cause. Living in a home w/ 3 boys and a husband I am not sure about this. This is only the second & third time that I am doing this so I still have some things to learn. I guess the important thing is that when you put them in the bags to freeze you need to put some "bean juice" in there too.
I like to use beans in Chili and in some Southwestern style recipes. I have also found that adding some beans to taco meat for tacos or burritos can be a good way to cut some costs of meals and can be healthier too. I am going to start looking for some other things that I can use beans in, if you have suggestions please let me know.
I also mixed up some Taco seasoning and some Chili seasoning which can be another great way to save some extra money along with being another healthier choice for my family. It is really simple and not to time consuming. The taco seasoning recipe listed does not make much so if I was going to make it again I would do it all x4. That way you aren't making it all of the time. :)

I keep getting lots of comments from some of my friends about writing a book. There is no way that I am able to do that at this time of my life but I have a lot that I can share about my 14+ years of being a mom. I am going to try to get back to this blogging thing and do my best to find time to share some things that can be helpful to all of you other Mommy's out there. I hope you will find them helpful.
I am always looking for ways to be more organized and save myself time along with doing the best for my family. Like many other Moms I have found that there must be a balance to this. I can't do it all as much as I would like to think. I am am no longer killing myself trying to prove to others that I am worthy of that "good mom" label. I am Perfectly Imperfect and the God chose me to be the mother of my childern knowing ALL of my imperfections!
